Z Pack
After two weeks of constant coughing, sore throat and everything else, I am finally better. With two doctor visits and lots of medicine, I am back to my old self.
Since I have diabetes and is prone to pneumonia, my coughing has caused an alarm to my family. I wanted to just wait and see as I always do whenever I don't feel too good. But my constant barking (read: coughing) resulted to no sleep for me and the husband thus I was "forced" to see the doctor. My fist visit I was given a steroid shot. Usually this shot does wonders to whatever I feel but it didn't work at all. In contrast, my symptoms got worse. So I went back and I was prescribed with Z pack and a cough syrup.
It worked and goodbye cough!

Hack, hack, hack....!!!
This is me all day all night.
It is not just me actually, it is my daughter and me. We are a team in terms of barking!!! We both sound awful. I can manage this situation, I just felt sorry for my daughter.
You will see less of me online these days because I am just too weak to be staying online. I need more sleep but this coughing won't let me!

A Visit to the Doctor
One of the things that I hate when visiting the doctor is the wait times. You spend long hours waiting in the examining room and the lobby. Though they always provide some books and a very nice waiting area, waiting is still waiting and nobody likes to wait.
I am very comfortable with our family doctor. She is very competent and just very nice. The last time that I went for my regular check, her nurse put me in a different examining room. It was bigger and there were complete sets of medical equipments and I noticed the welch allyn diagnostic system and wall transformer.

Bronchitis

Bronchitis is inflammation of the main air passages to the lungs. Bronchitis may be short-lived (acute) or chronic, meaning that it lasts a long time and often recurs.
My daughter has been nursing her cough for over a week. She seems to be okay with it, no other pain whatsoever. She is still as active as she can be.
The cough seems to get worse when she plays and runs outside. I decided to bring her to her pediatrician.
Sadly she has bronchitis. She is taking medication for 10 days and she will have a recheck after that.
Poor little girl, she has been sick yet she is still as sweet as she can be.

Blood Work
I went to see my doctor today. It was an early appointment. My appointment was at 9am. It was too early for somebody like me who is a nocturnal specie. But, this is the only time that I can see my doctor as she has other appointments. I was complaining of my severe hairloss and other problems. She suspected that either I have anemia or I have thyroid problems. To be sure she sent me to the lab for blood work. Her office will call me about the results.

Flowers and Get Well Soon Card
I had my urine tested and they drawn a tube of blood to be tested when I went to the doctor. I had kidney infection so I had to be given an antibiotic shot on my hips. The shot hurts. It hurts so bad that I had a hard time walking. I also have to take 7 days of antibiotic.
Wednesday, I was still so sick. I still had fever and chills. Thursday I had another day of rest. Today, I feel much better. I woke up early took a very long hot shower and I feel like I am new.
My Mom Lori took care of Andrea while I was sick and Dave was at work. I didn't even have to cook as she let me order a to go food from the Chinese restaurant. Dave did most of the household chores while I was resting.
It was Wednesday night when Andrea and Dave bought the flowers and the card. They are all so sweet.
Thanks everyone!

Heart Surgery Lessons
Because of what happened to Dad, it made me realized that I need to learn more about heart surgery. It also made me more conscious about my health and our family's health. It made me strive to improve our overall health in the hopes that medical problems will be avoided.
Upon my research, I have found out that heart valve surgery is a procedure to treat heart valve disease. Most heart valve repair and replacement surgeries are successful. In today's improved technology and surgical techniques, heart surgeons can now perform minimally invasive heart surgery. Minimally invasive surgery involves the use of smaller incisions, thus it gives the patient less pain and a shorter recovery period. Heart valve surgery can improve the quality of life, reduce symptoms and prolong life. Today, minimally invasive technique is considered the preferred approach for most of the patients.

Annual Check-up
Everything seems to be pretty normal with my check up. I will know the result of my pap smear in 3 weeks. So far everything went well.
After my check up, we went to do some grocery shopping. Before we all knew it, it was already 5pm and time to go home as it will get dark sooner and it is time to prepare for dinner.

Poison Ivy
You see, we have been fishing almost every weekend. We surely have a lot of fun. Last week, I got some rashes in my back. I thought that perhaps it was just nothing and part of being exposed to the sun. For someone who lived in a tropical country until I migrated in the USA, it is kinda weird that I am not very sun friendly. I always get a reaction when I am exposed to the sun. Yet, I manage to tolerate it because I enjoy fishing so much.
Anyhow, the rashes in my back is getting bad. I itch so much and it is sort of spreading. Time to see my doctor and see if they can do something about it. Tomorrow, I will be seeing a doctor and hopefully they can prescribe me with something that would ease my itchiness!

Choosing the Right Doctor for Your Family
Edward Stern is a guest blogger for An Apple a Day and a writer on earning your nursing degree online for the Guide to Health Education.
Your children are everything to you, and they deserve the best. Especially when it comes to health care. A good family doctor should be there to help you with all concerns, big and small, and to provide sound advice on how to raise healthy children. Finding this doctor is a whole other matter altogether -- looking through the phone book can't tell you much about which doctor will be right for young children. That's why we've compiled these tips for choosing the right doctor for your family. Look for these traits, and if you find one matching your needs, you've found a keeper.
How does the doctor interact with your children? If they put the kids at ease, that's a step in the right direction. Going to the doctor can be scary for little ones, so find someone who understands this and tries to alleviate any of their anxieties through kindness, goofiness, or interest in their activities.
Choose a doctor who is receptive to your questions and concerns, no matter how small. It's natural that as the parent of young children, you may be overly concerned about something that is in all actuality quite minor. Don't let the doctor belittle your concerns, however; find one who cares, and wants to put your mind at ease as well.
Choose a doctor who is a good communicator. When you ask questions, do they rush through responses or answer them thoroughly? How soon is a call back from a phoned-in question? Can you understand what they're telling you, or is it full of unintelligible medical jargon? To get a better idea of what good doctor-patient communication is, check out these Resources for Health Communication.
At the same time, make sure the doctor is a good listener. Your concerns need to be heard and understood, not just for the health of your children, but for your own personal peace of mind. If they seem to be tuning you out and are just writing drug prescriptions, they may not be the right fit for you.
Find out the office's hours. Are they open on the weekends? If not, are you OK with that? Make sure the doctor is available when you think you will need them.
The right family doctor should have a positive outlook. It's more of a gut feeling than anything tangible, but if your doctor exudes positivity, that's a good fit. Doctors should be optimistic and instill hope in their clients, especially when dealing with children. Oftentimes, the best drug of all is positivity.
Know what hospital or educational institution your doctor is affiliated with. Doctors who have such connections are most often more up-to-date with current medical practices and just better, more competent doctors than those who are not. Also, this will affect where they refer your children to for more specialized care. If you have a preference of one hospital over another, choose your doctor accordingly.
Find out the doctor's reputation. Ask around, and see who your friends go to. This is truly the best yardstick of a good doctor -- if families you know and trust are trusting their children’s health in the hands of a certain doctor.

Caring for our Old Folks
Life in the USA is different. Everybody seems to be busy with their everyday lives that when old folks can no longer function independently, they are sent to Nursing Homes. I am not against this as this is the way of life here. There are Nursing Homes in Virginia that makes living comfortable for the old folks. They have all the medical professionals that can cater to their needs. I think that when our old folks needs special care like the services offered by the Physical Therapy Facilities in Virginia it will be good for them to be in that facility.
When we send our folks to nursing homes or therapy facilities, it doesn't mean that we care less for them. I think that as long as we remember to check on them and visit them as much as possible, that still means we care for them.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be a struggle because there are so many temptations in our modern world. There are many unhealthy foods that are of easy access. Because most people always prefer to take the easy route, most of the time our food intake doesn't have all the proper vitamins and minerals that our body needs. To make up for that, Oasis wellness had different vitamin supplements that can help what our body needs. They even have the famous Bio D-Mulsion, a supplement for people who doesn't get vitamin D the way Mother Nature intended, from sunshine. This supplement plays a vital role in skeletal development and bone mineralization.
