Guest post from: Jeromy Haney

If you have children at home you will want to take extra precautions during the summer months to ensure that it is a safe and healthy one for your child. Here are a few tips to help you keep your children safe!

1. Staying Home Alone

If your child is old enough and ready to stay at home alone, ensure there safety by installing an adt program in the home. You should also teach the children the importance of not answering the door to strangers or giving personal details out over the telephone. Give them an emergency number to reach you, along with a cell phone.Create a safety plan with your children.

2. Safety in the Water

Keep your kids safe as they participate in one of the best summer activities ever! No summer is complete without trips to the local pool.Keep your kids safe by applying a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or more before and while they play. Give them floats and other safety devices according to their age. If they do not know how to swim, it is never to early to teach them!

3. Preventing Sunburn

As with water safety, apply sunscreen several times thoughout the day to prevent sunburn. Keep kids indoor during the hottest hours of the day( 2 to 4 p.m.) when the chance of burn is increased.
