FIFA 2010
The football that I know is the US Football. US Football is what I am into. I love the sports and actually I am looking forward to the opening of college football which will be soon.
Anyway, the World Cup has full of controversies and it was a lot of fun to watch. Though US team didn't make it to the finals, there were still many people who are glued to their televisions earlier between the final match of Netherlands and Spain. Many sports analysts were rooting for Spain to win... for me, I wanted the Netherlands to win as I am always for the underdogs.
It was a good match today and my congratulations to the Spain team for winning the World Cup. This is the first time that Spain won. I am sure it will be a great honor for them for winning the World Cup.

World Cup Craze
With US team being out of the competition after losing their game between Ghana, more US fans are disappointed with the results. I have heard and read many reports about complains against referees and even the soccer ball that they are using.
Anyway, my nephews are into soccer. Actually my eldest nephew is in their school soccer team. I am thinking of sending him some personalized soccer balls. It won't be hard to send them because the soccer ball will definitely fit inside the "balikbayan" box.

News of the Three Lions
Rio Ferdinand, a 31-year-old Manchester United central defender, has been tapped as the newest team captain for the Three Lions. England’s National Football team just had an upheaval of its roster as far as team leadership goes due to John Terry’s behavior off the pitch. Head coach Fabio Capello most likely feels that in order to keep the team focused on the game and to get the nation appeased quickly, he needed to take control of the situation. Instead of letting everyone chime in with their opinion, or hearing what the press would end up blowing the situation into, Capello showed he’s a decisive boss and bumped Terry out of the post. I was excited to read all this news the other day on my wild blue internet as I’m a huge soccer fan!
Unfortunately, Ferdinand is serving a four-game ban at the club level for elbowing Hull's Craig Fagan, but it’s almost over with. He and head coach for Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson have appealed the ban but it was overturned. Ferdinand has also been beset by a back injury this season, missing games for both the national team and United.
Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard, also slowed by injuries this season, will move up to vice captain.
"When I chose John Terry as captain, I also selected a vice captain and also named a third choice. There is no reason to change this decision," Capello said.

Indy Grand Prix of Alabama
When we got back from our "Asian Food Shopping", the Exit going to our place was closed to give way to the people who watched the Indy Grand Prix. We had to go an extra 4 miles to exit. It was not much of a hassle though.
What is Indy Gran Prix of Alabama? According to Wikipedia: The Indy Grand Prix of Alabama is an IRL IndyCar Series open-wheel race to be held at the Barber Motorsports Park, a 16-turn 2.3-mile (3.7 km) road course, in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. Officially announced on July 27, 2009, the inaugural event is scheduled for the weekend of April 9-11, 2010. The event will be under contract through the 2012 season and under the management of the local group Zoom Motorsports. The venue is designed to allow for nearly 100,000 spectators and will have an estimated economic impact on Greater Birmingham of $30 million.

MLB and HGH
Baseball is not popular in Philippines where I came from. Learning the baseball game was new to me until I became familiar with it and since then, I love the game.
MLB has been rocked with scandals about HGH. Some of my favorite players admitted that they did use HGH. Sometimes, I can say that what a waste for them because obviously there are different human growth hormone side effects. It might not affect them at the moment but in the coming years, it will. Why risk a good career with an HGH Scandal?
You can never really know why these players will use HGH when in fact, they already have a talent. I am sure they won't be drafted if they don't have a talent in this kind of sports.
Anyway, I hope this year MLB won't have many scandals. Baseball season is near and I am really looking forward to it.

Pacquiao vs Clottey (March 13, 2010)
Manny Pacquiao is running for a Congressional seat in the Philippines. If he wins, there is a chance that he will be busy with politics that he won't have time to train and have a fight.
If this will be Manny's last fight, I want him to win this one. Actually, even if this won't be his last I still want him to win.
The fight will be held at the multimillion home of the Dallas Cowboys. Clottey promises a good fight and prove that he is not just a mere fill-in. As we all remember this fight is supposed to be Pacquiao vs Mayweather. But the negotiations did not went well which ended to a Pacquiao vs Clottey and Mayweather vs Mosley fight.
I am very anxious to watch this game through Pay Per View with Direct TV... Geezz though the price is expensive for a one night bout..

Equestrians

I always admire equestrians. I also think that this is a very expensive hobby. There are few famous equestrians in the Philippines that I know like Mickey Cojuanco Jaworski and Toni Leviste. They are both famous in their chosen field and yes they are both rich! Engaging in this hobby is no joke because you have to have money to buy a pure breed horse and maintaining those horses are also very expensive.
I admit, when I see the equestrians wearing their riding apparel which consists of breeches, boots, gloves, and more I find them very smart looking. And when they start riding their horses, for me they look like they are flying with the wind.

... and the Heisman goes to....

Tonight is the most awaited night for all those that are nominated to win the Heisman Trophy. I have my personal favorites. I wanted Colt McCoy to win and perhaps Toby Gerhart but Ingram won which he really deserves. Ingram is the first Crimson Tide Player who won a Heisman trophy.
Ingram's acceptance speech is really full of emotion and you can't help but respect him for that. For more about Ingram's winning the Heisman you can read it here.

Pacquiao vs Mayweather
Bob Arum flew to Philippines to close the deal with Manny Pacquiao.
Supposedly HBO wanted the fight to be scheduled May 1, 2010 but it seems impossible since Manny announces his candidacy for the Philippine Election. Manny Pacquiao will be running for a senatorial seat.
Read here for more details.

The Numbers of Pacquiao - Cotto Fight
- For a 12 round fight Pacquiao end up making $22 million while Cotto end up making $12 million (this is according to Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter)
- The fight sold 1.25 million pay per view buys
- Television gross was $70 million
- 15,470 tickets sold for a gate of $8.84 million at the MGM Grand hotel.
What's next for Manny? Is it Mayweather? If it is ... expect another great numbers... Both fighters are in the prime of their boxing career so it will be a good fight. Each fighter believes he should get a bigger percentage of the purse, do you think both can get 50-50 share? Whatever the result I am sure it will be in BIG NUMBERS!

UGA VII Dies
Uga VII, the white English bulldog mascot for the University of Georgia's football team for almost two seasons, died Thursday of heart-related causes.
During Georgia's game, you can always see UGA roaming in the sideline with his shirt with a G on it. He has a customize dog house where he can cool off with ice during hot summer days.
UGA was just 4 years old. In his first year as the UGA mascot, he had a record of 10-3... not bad for a freshman!
I am sure that Georgia fans will miss UGA VII!

Rio de Janeiro to host 2016 Olympics

The result is out....Rio de Janeiro to host 2016 Olympics!
Madrid's surprising success in reaching the final round came after former IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch made an unusual appeal for the Spanish capital, reminding the IOC members as he asked for their vote that, at age 89, "I am very near the end of my time." Samaranch's appeal didn't make them win the bid though.
Anyway, this will be the first time that South America will host an Olympics event. The city has budgeted $14.4 billion to the effort.

2016 Olympics

We all know that Chicago wanted to host the 2016 Olympics.
Friday morning, President Obama urged the IOC to pick his hometown of Chicago, saying the city represents the American dream as well as the Olympic spirit.
Obama's address to the 106 IOC members was the highlight of the Chicago bid committee's final presentation before the vote to choose the host city.
"Chicago is a place where we strive to celebrate what makes us different, just as we celebrate what we have in common," Obama said.
------------
The vote is over! Chicago loses its bid for 2016 Olympics. Chicago's elimination (on the first round of voting) was one of the most shocking defeats in IOC voting history. It had long been seen as a front-runner and got the highest possible level of support — from President Barack Obama himself.
Who will host the 2016 Olympics.... Rio de Janeiro or Madrid???? Hmmm stay tuned...

Who will win the Heisman this year?
This year, the million dollar question that is worth pondering is who will win the Heisman trophy?... If you remembered it, Tim Tebow won it and so did Sam Bradford... This year, could it be Colt McCoy's turn?
I admit we are big LSU fans but Tim Tebow will always have a spot in my heart because he is just a good guy. I admire his beliefs and of course I admire his and his family's missionary works in the Philippines.
