Planning my dream wedding

Guest post of the week by Val Flores

So as it turns out, planning a wedding is far more involved than I ever thought it would be. There are about a million things to do at any given time and at the end of the day I really wish I hadn’t bitten off quite so much when it comes to a big shindig. Since we’ve got a lot of friends it’s going to have to be a large affair and it doesn’t help that we’ve both got big families, too. I got directv.com satellite tv for the house so my mom and I could watch wedding shows together since she’s about 2 hours apart from me and it’s actually been kind of a fun way to stay connection. But other than that I can’t think of anything about this process that I’ve actually enjoyed. It’s all been big decisions and writing checks and hurt feelings and that’s not exactly something I wanted to take on, you know? Who would have thought I’d end up feeling this way? Not me!

Severe Weather

Alabama is known to experience some extreme weather conditions when it comes to having thunderstorms and tornadoes. During my first year here, I was really surprised how the weather can be awful. We do have plenty of thunder and lightning in the Philippines but it was nothing compared to what I have experienced here in my present residence.

The first time I heard the siren indicating tornado warning, I was shocked as it was so loud. Then hubby explained to me how we should keep ourselves in a safe place during tornado warnings. I guess it helped that we can watch the weather coverage in our television as to be updated about any other severe weather situations. I am just glad that my Direct TV seldom gets out even during severe weather. When we expect a bad weather, we always turn on our television and watch the local weather news. Thanks to a reliable Satellite TV service, we can always be updated on anything.

Scrumptious Ginger Bread Houses

Thanks for the guest post by Kristofer Bartlett

Last night I was watching the cooking channel on my satellite TV from www.expertsatellite.com/ and out of the blue a commercial came on for my all time favorite child hood Christmas treat! Ginger bread house kits. Every Christmas Eve when I was a child, my mother and I would construct multiple, edible ginger bread houses for our sweet tooth's. That night we would cuddle up in front of the fire place and watch Charlie Brown's Christmas while eating our masterpieces. Now that I have a daughter of my own, I am going to start making this a tradition for us every year. I do not believe there is a kid out there that does not love arts and crafts that involve eating the finished product. I told my four year old about the idea and she was absolutely ecstatic! Since Christmas is coming up very shortly I am going to pre-order the houses and store them away until its time. I hope we do not get antsy and dive into the project before Christmas Eve. They are just so delicious that it will be so difficult not to indulge in a little ginger bread.

Jewels by Danielle Steel is a Great Book

Danielle Steel has written books that have been published in different languages all over the globe. Her book Jewels is one of the most fascinating romance and historical books I have ever read. Jewels covers a young, rich American woman who marries a British aristocrat who is a wonderful husband to her. The tale weaves over decades, through war and through triumph and leaves the reader identifying with the main character.

I like to watch Direct.TV when I am not at work and when I have some downtime. I spend the rest of my free time reading historical books and this is when I discovered what a great book Jewels is. Sarahs husband William is sent off to war and she is left alone and pregnant to raise two small children. She falls in love with an enemy soldier as the enemy troops take over her estate during the war.

When her husband finally returns and the war is over, he discovers that Sarah has purchased hundreds of valuable jewels, from dazzling emeralds and large diamonds, from the local people who needed to sell their jewelry to have money to live on during the hard times of the war. The open successful jewelry stores and Sarah and William experience the challenges of this endeavor.

DVR for the History Buff

Thanks to Lemuel Craft

I'm a history professor, and it is an underestimate to say that I love history. I specifically am an American History teacher, with my personal favorite being the history from 1800-1863. This first section of history, after the American Revolution but before the Civil War, is an important era for Americans. I watch several documentaries each month on this era, but at times it is only on when I am teaching. This is why I have DVR service with my satellite tv from http://www.directstartv.com/directv/directv_installation_included.html.

With my DVR I can record television shows such as "How the States Got Their Shape" on the History Channel while I am lecturing on the early history of Virginia, and not have to worry about missing a single moment! I also record several shows on the Presidents, especially in February at around President's Day.

What's best about my DVR is that I can watch these recorded shows many times and not have to delete them until I am ready. This is helpful to me if I am incorporating some of the television material into my lectures and tests. On the whole, I will continue to use DVR to record my favorite programming, and plan on using the information presented in these shows to help encourage students to learn more about our unique history!

The Crowd is Amazing at a Professional Football Game

I love going to professional football games due to the crowd. You get to meet so many great people that are there to enjoy the game. There are also some characters that take the game too seriously and they can be quite entertaining too. You will find people of all ages at these games having an amazing time. Some of them are young children, there are young adults, middle aged people, and even elderly who have been fans of professional football for decades.

The noise of the crowd as they cheer for their favorite team is amazing. You can't get that kind of energy anywhere else! The crowd can also go crazy to make noise in order to distract the opposing team. This is a strategy that has long been associated with professional football. Sometimes the professional football team members will use hand signals to get the crowd to get more involved. That is very exciting too!

When I can't go see a professional football game, I watch them on satellite TV from Best Choice TV.com. There is always so much action in any game that it is a great way to relax and to enjoy my free time. Inviting friends over to watch the games with me is fun too. However, it is always best to be there at a professional football game and see the action as it unfolds along with thousands of other excited fans.

Entertainment while Waiting

I am thankful that despite being a premature baby, my daughter Andrea is healthy. Yes, she spent almost two months in NICU when she was born but after she was released she didn't got sick until she had ear infection when she was 10 months old. Being a premature baby, she has a bigger chances of getting ear infection and because it was a recurring incident her EENT suggested to put ear tubes. Other than that my daughter don't get sick very much and I am very thankful.

It is important for me to keep Andrea's visits to pediatrician and her check-ups. I also make sure that her vaccination is updated at all times. Although sometimes, it is really a pain to wait in the waiting room even if the pedia office provide entertainment while waiting. My pediatrician's office has tv in their waiting rooms, that keeps the children entertained while waiting for their turn to be checked. They also have a few toys to play with. There are just times that the pedia office is full and that waiting can be hard especially if your child gets bored.

Whether patients are waiting in the hospital or clinics, when there is a tv, it seems that time will pass quickly as there is something to occupy the patients' time while waiting. Direct TV business packages are really good for different establishments.

Say Yes to the Dress!

The Author of this post is Solomon Dejesus

Reality TV has become a barrage of videos detailing the lives of the rich and famous so it's no wonder why women have become drawn to shows focusing on weddings. They offer a breath of fresh air from the catty women trying to spend as much money as they can in order to keep up with their neighbors. One such show is "Say Yes to the Dress!" It has become popular among future brides and those already betrothed. The show is based on following brides-to-be on their journey to find that perfect dress and the problems they face along the way, from sample sizes being too small and not enough time to order the correct size to alterations not fitting with the wedding being the next day. Along with the problems that the brides face, there is typically the one friend or family member who can't keep their mouth shut to make the bride happy. While watching this show on the satellite TV my husband got with www.direc4u.com/direct-tv-deals.htmlI am reminded of my wedding and choosing my own dress. Say Yes to the Dress is a funny and classy bridal reality program that can be enjoyed by all!

Discovery Channel

Thanks for the post from Barney Crosby

Some of my absolute favorite shows on television are shows on the Discovery channel. More and more I find myself watching programming that is on this channel because it is interesting and fresh. There are constantly new specials, series and documentaries being aired that are all interesting and relative to today's society. I first started watching Discovery because of the show Deadliest Catch. I became a huge fan after the first season and have caught almost every episode since then. No other channel offers television programming that is anything like the shows on this channel.

Lately my Directtv Maine channels have been tuned into surviving the cut. The inside view of the military Special Forces training is fascinating to me. Being able to see what these men and women go through is amazing and captivating. There have been many documentaries that have come along over the years that have caught my attention, as well. I have even bought of few of these tv specials on DVD. With the level of programming Discovery Channel has to offer, I am becoming a bigger fan by the day. This channel has quickly become my go to channel for when there is nothing on tv, because of the fact that I can almost always guarantee something interesting being on.

Praises for News

Written by my friend Dong Wood

As a work from home wife, I often get lonely spending the entire day in front of my computer. To offer myself a bit of entertainment and company as I type away the hours, I begin my mornings watching the Today show on Direct TV. I have attempted to watch other new shows, to get the same news, but non can compare the the entertainment I get from the Today show. From the segments exhibited each day to the anchors themselves, I get a great start to my day by listening to the stories on the show, learning new recipes, ways to save money and enjoying the interactions of the newscasters and their personable, friendly personalities. Often times watching the show makes me feel like I am sitting down with close friends. Thanks to my satellite television service, I know I will get to start my day off watching this great show and anchors like Meredith Veira and Al Roker. This great service guarantees that local outages within the cable company do not disturb my morning routine to watch the Today show.

TV Service Cost

Most of us today have grown up with television as a constant companion. It has entertained us, shocked us, frightened us, and enlightened us. Television is the window of the world and it brings us sports events, news flashes, heartwarming rescues and pictures of human despair.

Television is not just merely a simple technology. It helps us discover the world beyond our own doors. It shows us places we may never visit, allows us to live and see the lives of luxury and glamour, and gives us a front-row seat to real-life dramas.

The shows we see in television doesn't come free, of course. To fully take advantage of the shows that we want to watch, we need to have satellite tv service or cable tv service. There are a lot of different packages that each tv service offers. TV Service can be costly at times but depending on the provider, I am sure you can get an affordable one.

My TV Service is at median range. I get all the shows that I like to watch and the sports network that we really love during football season. Once your TV service provides you with affordable rate and quality service then I am sure you will have a great time watching your favorite shows.
