Crab Apple Tree

Crabapples are differentiated from apples based on fruit size. If fruit is two inches in diameter or less, it is termed a crabapple. If the fruit is larger than two inches, it is classified as an apple.

Fruit is borne in the summer and fall. Colors range from dark-reddish purples through the reds and oranges to golden yellow and even some green. On certain selections the fruit can remain attractive well into the late winter. The larger fruited cultivars offer a bonus because the fruit can be spiced or used in jelly.

The hot temperature here in Alabama is almost at the point of being unbearable. We were in the 90's yesterday plus its humidity. It was such a hassle for me to get out of the comfort of our little abode. At least inside our place, the air conditioner keeps me comfortable and cool.

It's really hot that a good ice cream or a cold water melon will be perfect. But if your watermelon is carved like the picture below, I don't think you will want to eat them. I am sure you will just look at them and just be amazed.

Rambutan

Commonly known as Rambutan it is known botanically as Nephelium lappaceum. The Rambutan is a tropical tree which belongs to the Sapindaceae family and also the fruit of this tree. Although it does not grow very tall, it produces an ample harvest. Rambutan is widely distributed throughout Indonesia, Malaysia and Southeast Asia and is identified in some countries, by different names. For example, in Nicargua, Costa Rica and Panama

I was so excited to find this fruit in Georgia. I was more excited when I noticed that the price was affordable. Of course, I have to buy some because I have not eaten this fruit for a couple of years already. Who could have believe that a very common fruit in the Philippines like Rambutan will be available here in the USA? I am glad I bought two packages because I enjoyed eating them!
