"Pamamanhikan"

It is official my younger brother and his girlfriend Jenjen is getting married.

Tomorrow, he will officially ask Jenjen's hand in marriage. My whole family will be going to Jenjen's place for the "pamamanhikan". "Pamamanhikan" is a Filipino tradition where the man and his parents visit the woman's family and ask for her parents blessings to marry their daughter. It is also an occasion for the parents of the woman to get to know the parents of the man. It is also at this time that the wedding date is formally set, and the couple become engaged to get married.

Before my brother leaves to work abroad (he is schedule to leave on Nov 8), he wants everything to be in proper place that way they can proceed and have a church wedding when he comes home.

I am not sure if June is still the scheduled wedding day but one thing is for sure, I can hear wedding bells and my little brother (used to be) is getting married soon!
