Candy Treats

Last Sunday, we went to the "No Tricks just Treats" event at The Shops of Grand River. This is the 3rd year that we attended a Halloween event at this location.  We skip the face painting and balloon making because the line was long.  We did the store to store trick or treating right away.  Andrea who was dressed in a bunny costume got these candies!  It was a lot!

Gourmet Jerky

I love eating jerky. Jerky is naturally loaded with protein thus it is a good and healthy snack. I like to snack on them because it makes me full without worrying about how much carbohydrates it contains.

Being a jerky lover, I readily open one pouch and ate them. To be honest, I can eat one bag at once. It was very delicious. I first tried the Chili Lime flavor.  I like the combination of medium hot chili and the zesty lime.  The jerky is also very tender.  I really enjoyed this flavor and I was eating it without being guilty because I know it was a low calorie snack.

I tried some of the other flavors too and so does my husband.  We both love Krave Jerky.  Hubby told me to just save the jerky for myself because it is something I can snack around all the time because it has low carb content.  Having diabetes as you all know, I strive to eat low carb foods and this gourmet Krave Jerky is a perfect snack for me.

Bojangles

A month ago, we saw the construction where Bojangles branch will be opened.  We waited for that day to come.  I have always loved Bojangles.  I love their dirty rice, seasoned fries and their famous chicken.  I am not crazy with their biscuits though.

When it finally opened, we ordered a to go box of 8-piece chicken with 4 biscuits, one side of dirty rice and 1 side of fries.  I was in heaven!  The food was just awesome.

Now that there is a closer Bojangles to us and it is very convenient since hubby always passed this one to and from work, whenever I crave for Bojangles, I can have some.

The Lions of Lucerne

Last night, I finished another book. Yes, I spend my free time reading now. My blogs are no longer updated all the time but I am enjoying the time I spent reading.

The book that I read was The Lions of Lucerne. This book is definitely a must read if you want to read action thriller.  I can't put the book down but I forced myself to stop reading whenever it is time for me to tend to my daughter's needs.

Planning a Birthday Party for my Daughter

My daughter will be celebrating her 5th birthday on December. As early as this time, I am doing the preparations. You might ask why so early? Simply because I don't have a lot of extra money to do so. Planning it early and buying the things we need one by one will be easier. It will not hurt our budget if we buy little things one at a time.

She requested to have a party with balloons, decorations and pinata and some party games which will be held at our garage. She is excited at how she will help me decorate. She requested one thing though, she wants a present inside a box which is wrapped in a gift wrapper and with a bow on it. I joked her that I will put foods and fruits inside the box. She told me that food is not allowed inside the box - only toys.

So, I plan to buy her some educational toys as her present for her birthday. I am saving for that too. I keep on wishing that I can find some online opportunities that will give me some extra cash. Recently, online opportunities are scarce but I kept my hopes up.

Child Labor

There was a time when my daughter was so scared of the vacuum.  I had to close the door and distract her whenever Dave vacuums our old place.  Then we tried to explain to her that it was okay and that it was just a way of cleaning.  After letting her help and more encouraging that it was okay, she learned to  not mind the loud sounds of vacuum.

Now, she wants to do the vacuuming all by herself and she is so proud that the vacuum sucks all the dirt leaving our floor clean.  She told her daddy "Daddy I vacuum and clean our floor all by myself".  Now, I am enjoying a free child labor (lol).

Hydroponic Gardening

Hydroponic is the concept of soil less gardening.  This type of gardening has been around for thousand years. The famous hanging Gardens of Babylon and The Floating Gardens of China are the two earliest forms of hydroponic gardening. Countries like Holland, Germany, and Australia have used hydroponics for crop production and they are very successful with it.

Hydroponics is proved to have several advantages over soil gardening. The growth rate on a hydroponic plant is 30-50 percent faster than a soil plant, grown under the same conditions. The yield of the plant is also greater.
