Happy Birthday 'Tay!

Today, November 3, is my dad's birthday.

There is nothing more I wanted today than to be there with the family celebrating his birthday.

I am the youngest girl in the family, and to be honest I am spoiled. I am not ashamed to admit it. I am actually proud of it. Being the youngest girl has its perks and I enjoyed it.

One of the fondest memories I have about my dad is the guava fruit. When Dad pastured his carabao he often finds ripe guavas along the way and he always save the nicest one for me. Even when I was already old he always sneaks to give me the nicest one. When we had our guava tree, they always reserved its fruits and waited for me to have it. Little thing - I know but it meant so much to me.

Since I migrated here in the US, Dad seldom talks to me in the phone. He hates talking to me in the phone because he is always emotional and the phone conversation will end up in crying session.

I had a lot of fond memories with my tatay and I wish so bad that I can be there to celebrate his birthday but of course, it is not possible. Though I am far away, he knows my thoughts are with them during this special day. I hope that God will grant him good health so that we can see each other again in our next trip.

Happy birthday Tay. Thank you for being a wonderful father. We love you.
